Presentation of the city of Toulouse

Toulouse is a city in the southwest of France. It is now the capital of the Occitanie region, in the Haute-Garonne department.

The Capitole is a monument of the city of Toulouse, which today houses the City Hall and the Capitole Theatre.

A city with the characteristic architecture of the cities of the South of France, Toulouse is nicknamed the « pink city » because of the colour of the traditional local building material, terracotta brick. The development of the cultivation of the Toulouse violet has made it an emblem of the city and earned it the nickname « City of Violets ».

Linking Toulouse to the city of Sète, the Canal du Midi has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996. The Saint-Sernin Basilica, the largest Roman building in Europe, has also been listed since 1998 as part of the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela.
Toulouse is the European capital of the aeronautics and space industry with its parent company Airbus.

Minotaure et piste des géants

Far removed from a static stagecraft museum and closer to a street performance than a permanent exhibition, a visit to La Halle de La Machine is an invitation to explore the stories and legends behind these extra-ordinary mechanical entities. Let yourself be guided, transported and inspired by the team of Veritable Machinists, who spend each day manipulating the machines to bring them to life before your eyes.
